Screen Shot 2018-03-29 at 19.06.33Do you ever wonder what is holding you back from achieving or maintaining a slim, fit, strong and healthy body? (And no it’s not your age!). Do you know why you go back to the same old ways, feeling like it’s a constant struggle to stay on track to achieve your goals or make them sustainable?

Transforming your body and your life all starts in the mind first. Finding a big enough reason WHY to change your unhealthy habits to make the best decisions for your health, fitness and ultimately your entire life – now and in 1, 3, 5 years time. So change your mindset, change your life, easy right? It’s simple but not easy, especially the older we get!

The mind is like an iceberg and most of our habits and behaviours are run by our subconscious, our ‘automatic pilot’. This is usually set by age 35, unless we do some work on ourselves to uncover, take notice and be mindful of the drivers of our behaviours.

The saying “Your thoughts create your reality” comes from this model:

• Thoughts create feelings
• Feelings create a state of mind or attitude
• The stats of mind creates behaviours/actions
• The behaviours create your reality and determine the outcome of your goals

Amy Morin the psychotherapist and author wrote this great article outlining how this works.

“Your mind is very powerful. Yet, if you’re like most people, you probably spend very little time reflecting on the way you think. After all, who thinks about thinking? But, the way you think about yourself turns into your reality. If you draw inaccurate conclusions about who you are and what you’re capable of doing, you’ll limit your potential.

The Link Between Thoughts, Feelings And Behaviour:

Your thoughts are a catalyst for self-perpetuating cycles. What you think directly influences how you feel and how you behave. So if you think you’re a failure, you’ll feel like a failure. Then, you’ll act like a failure, which reinforces your belief that you must be a failure.

Your Beliefs Get Reinforced:

Once you draw a conclusion about yourself, you’re likely to do two things; look for evidence that reinforces your belief and discounts anything that runs contrary to your belief.

Someone who develops the belief that he’s a failure, for example, will view each mistake as proof that he’s not good enough. When he does succeed at something, he’ll chalk it up to luck.

Consider for a minute that it might not be your lack of talent or lack of skills that are holding you back. Instead, it might be your beliefs that keep you from performing at your peak.

Creating a more positive outlook can lead to better outcomes. That’s not to say positive thoughts have magical powers. But optimistic thoughts lead to productive behaviour, which increases your chances of a successful outcome.
